Bound codex, containing folios and quires of various measurements. Contains mostly handwritten notes, all presumably by Édouard Ariel, but also some printed matters, either pasted on the folios or bound in the volume. Title-pages divide the volume by subject, while many folios bear a top header. Contains, with a focus on the Tamil South of India, notes, bibliographical references and documents bearing on: the literature, the history, the ethnography and the geography of India; sciences, divination, cosmography, astronomy, astrology, etc. in India. Contains lists of printed Tamil books.
