A catalogue of the Tamil manuscripts in the now BnF by Julien Vinson, first part.

The codex contains:

  • Biographies (handwritten) of Ducler and Ariel by Julien Vinson (U1).
  • Catalogue (handwritten) by Julien Vinson for Tamoul 1-132 (old shelfmark) = BnF Indien 1-132 (new shelfmark) (U2). The first folio is missing (description of Tamoul 1-5). This draft version has corrections in red ink. The proofreadings have been printed and still exist, uncorrected (Vinson 1868) and corrected (Vinson et al. 1866-).

Composite manuscript described as a multi-text manuscript for the sake of convenience.

Description based on the examination of the original manuscript (March 2022).
